Story
Hi there,
Our friend, brother, uncle, son & husband Jamie , was only 37 when diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma!
We have experienced first hand how difficult a cancer journey can be and the impact that treatment has on the whole immediate and extended family, friends and wider community of those affected.
Jamie is about 1 1/2 years post his second stem cell transplant.
Over 5 1/2 years post diagnosis. He is loving being a 'House Dad'.
He enjoys attending the 'Coffee & Cake' meetings held by Leukaemia Foundation for Myeloma patients.
He also has supported others that we know who have been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma over the past year, one very recently.
Jamie has good & bad days. He has frustrations when he is unable to do the things he used to, but he always bounces back.
We are proud of the way he is willing to support others who are struggling with diagnosis or with side effects of medication.
He is great encouragement to all who meet him and hear his story.
Jamie is our motivation for raising funds for research into better treatments , finding a cure and support of patients and their families.
This team of courageous stompers have decided to make a difference by creating their very own fundraising appeal for charity. They will be participating in Stadium Stomp 2017 this winter and will be climbing thousands of stairs within the Gabba for Leukaemia Foundation. The Leukaemia Foundation of Australia
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the care and cure of patients and families living with blood cancers ( leukaemia , lymphoma, myeloma) and related blood disorders.
The Leukaemia Foundation supports patients and their families by providing services at no cost to the patient. Our services include providing disease specific information, emotional support and advocacy, financial assistance, educational programs to help people live with their disease, safe transport to and from treatments and access to fully furnished 'home away from home' accommodation for regional families.
Millions of dollars are also invested annually to Australia’s leading researchers to develop better treatments and eventually a cure.
The Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding and relies on money raised from the community to continue to support patients and their families affected by leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma or related blood disorder.
